When you work in an industry where most work a lot of hours for relatively little take home pay……….

 

You raise a few eyebrows when you earn a (cross-industry) average wage for average hours.

 

##### If, with kids to feed, the only option was the standard FitPro minimum wage, I’d leave the industry and use my degree in Engineering and Management ######

 

We know fellow FitPros like to claim we’re overpaid.

 

And point out that they (in their opinion, at least) work more hours.

 

Displaying the fact that the work more for less and get (waaaaayyyyyyyy) less results for their clients, like some strange ‘badge of honour’.

 

I’ll never forget a gym instructor at a gym I was PTing at many years ago saying “I may not earn much, but at least I work hard for my money” (confusing working hard with being at work for more hours).

Which was, I thought, one of the maddest things I’ve ever heard.

 

The worst combo, no?

 

Not working hard for loads of money surely the best way.

 

With not working hard for not much or working hard for a lot somewhere in the middle.

 

Working hard for little at the bottom.

 

Nothing wrong with either not earning much or working hard…………

 

###### I started working for my Dad aged 12 or 13 for £1.75 an hour, feeding calves and mucking them out ######

 

But not the combo to aim for, surely?

A bit like when people point out to our members that they’re going somewhere cheaper.

 

“I go to a budget gym that only cost £30 a month”

 

But they’re not getting results.

 

Usually going backwards.

 

Saving money is great.

 

But at the expense of your health, energy levels, fitness, vitality, etc?

 

Not a good combo, no?

 

Ultimately if you’re happy with the results versus investment (money, time and effort) -your training value – then that’s awesome.
