———————-

That same day I dropped the motor-home off (yesterday’s blog), I went to Aldi in Macc.

It was pretty busy so I pulled into the first space I saw.

I realised that the car to one side wasn’t central to their parking space.

And, so, was pretty close to my car.

But, I was central to mine, so I was happy with that.

When I returned to my car twenty minutes later there was a clearly annoyed lady waiting to get in her car.

She pointed out that I hadn’t left her much room.

“I had to come over as the car on the other side was over” she informed me.

And, whilst she was entirely right that I hadn’t left her much room, I felt that more of the responsibility of that situation lay with her than me.

I had contributed to the situation, sure.

I completely saw her point.

But it was fundamentally her choice that led to what had happened to her.

The ultimate responsibility for her protecting herself was hers.

As it is with all of us.

Other people’s actions can contribute, of course.

But we nearly always have the final say.

People may (and will) try and flabotage us.

Wave cake, biscuits and wine under our noses.

Tell us to “stop being boring”.

To “just have one and stop making me feel guilty”.

Accusing us of being “no fun anymore”.

And those actions are part of what happens.

But that final choice……….

That responsibility………

That ability to ‘protect ourselves’………….

Lies with us and us alone.

Much love,

Jon ‘His car is warm and dry’ Hall

P.S. Being surrounded by like minded people on a similar journey is part of the reason our members find those ‘better’ food choices easier than they ever have before. Check myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you like the sound of getting results whilst havig fun with like minded people in an intimidation free atmosphere.
