Before people start with us one of the most common things that they express to me that they would need from me to help get them the results that they desire is “accountability”.

They’ve joined conventional gyms before where you’re given a quick induction and just left your own devices.

And the only time they ever hear from the gym is when they cancel their Direct Debit.

“Accountability” is one of the things that I’d say we’re really good at.

But, as I’ve mentioned before, accountability is a two-way street.

There’s only so much I can do if someone is, essentially, ignoring me.

We never ask people for perfection.

Just not to go ‘head in the sand’.

‘Fingers in the ears’.

The equivalent of going “Nah nah nah nah, I can’t hear you”.

When people stop responding, I don’t stop trying to give them the accountability that they requested.

I don’t give up on people.

They, perhaps, give up on themselves.

I’ve had people reply with “Will you stop hassling me?”

And the answer to that is always “No”.

“I won’t”.

Because the difference between “accountability” and “hassling” is when the person who requested accountability now refuses to be held accountable.

If I stopped contacting people / chased them up the first time they didn’t reply to a message or two, what kind of accountability would that be?

If someone wants “accountability” only when things are easy and straightforward and everything’s going perfectly……….

And then to be left alone when the going gets tough………

There are plenty of other people out there who will gladly take your money for that.

That’s not the way I roll.

Ultimately, accountability only really has value at the point where people are starting to find it more difficult and are tempted to disengage.

And if that means I have to “hassle” them………

To help them achieve something that they’ve told me is of the upmost importance to them………

So be it!

Much love,

Jon ‘The Hoff’ Hall
