As I’ve mentioned in these blogs, I’ve been away on holiday for the last few weeks. But I’m back in today taking Sessions. So today was the first time for a few week that I’ve had to set my alarm for 5am. 5am is, of course, pretty early. And whilst I’d be lying if I said it was great fun waking up at that time, I’ve never had a problem with it. For work at least. For two reasons. Which I will cover in today’s and tomorrow’s blogs. Firstly, I enjoy taking Sessions. Once I’m up and there I like seeing members, chatting to them and taking them through the workout. It’s much easier to be motivated to do things that we enjoy. Obvious really. But us humans are really good at setting ourselves a plan that we really don’t like doing. And then being surprised when we struggle to remain motivated to do it. One expression that I sums this up is “You’ll never create a life that you love by doing s*** that you hate”. It’s not that it wouldn’t work. But if we don’t like doing it, we’re probably not going to do it enough. I often talk about ‘knowingly suboptimal and done’. Choosing the thing that we enjoy, or at least find sufficiently tolerable, and then actually doing it. Which will always get way better results than ‘theoretically better but not done’. So, if you’re struggling with motivation, you probably don’t enjoy what you’re trying to do. Find a version that you do enjoy and it all becomes much easier (cough *** this –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply *** cough)

Much love,
