Since we set up the area’s first group training based club 5 years ago……..

Numerous other similar set ups have opened up.

Some seemingly very ‘inspired’ by what we do.

Some very much carving their own niche.

Either way though, I think it would be fair to say that, at least, us making a success of something that hadn’t been done before has given others confidence to try it themselves.

There seems to be a variety of success rates.

Some have closed already.

Some are well on their way by all accounts.

And some are doing well I believe.

For those that aren’t doing so well, they seem to have adopted an “If you build it, they will come” approach.

Buying a load of equipment and sticking it in a unit of some sort.

And just kinda hoping enough people will join to pay the bills.

Those of that have made a go of it have done so through constant evolution of and improvement to what we offer.

Our programme, which was pretty good to start with, has improved immeasurably since we started.

We’ve worked hard on every aspect of what we do to make it ever better.

And to make sure enough people know about what we do.

The old expression “If you’re not going forward, you’re going backwards” seems particularly apt.

It’s the same with what you do on your journey to an improved body and / or life.

People often struggle when they just start something and think “That’s it”.

That they just need to keep doing that forever.

Nice in theory.

Rarely works.

You need to tweak, tinker with and evolve your approach over time.

Keep it fresh and interesting.

Stop your body just ‘getting used to it’.

Stop you getting bored of it.

Whatever exercise you do, make sure there’s some way to keep it interesting, varied and fun (if you haven’t found that yet, this could be it –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

Whichever way of eating you choose, make sure it is enjoyable enough that you can see yourself doing it for the rest of you life.

All ‘diets’ work, if done properly and continuously.

From a weight loss perspective at least.

But if you can’t see the variety and pleasure it gives being something you can, at least, tolerate, indefinitely……….

There’s not much point.

Much love,

Jon ‘Field of Dreams’ Hall and Matt ‘Kevin Costner’ Nicholson
