The last two Mondays have, of course, been Bank Holidays.
The standard May Day one and a bonus one for the Coronation.
Mondays are normally a long work day for me.
Up at 5am and don’t normally finish till sometime between 9 and 10pm.
Entirely through choice – this allows me more time flexibility later in the week where my child related commitments are greater.
These last two Bank Holidays I’ve got up at 7 rather than 5, taken a couple of Sessions at the club and done other work till lunch time.
The only bit of work that then doesn’t need doing is the three Monday evening Sessions I would have taken on each day.
My calls, blogs, videos and everything else that goes into running a successful business still needs to be done.
Two Mondays in a row of this has led to me waking up today with no blogs written or scheduled.
So I’m literally dictating this into the app I use as I walk the dog on the way back from dropping the car at the garage this morning.
It’s 7.57 right now.
As soon as I get back I’ll have to take the kids into school and then finish this off and publish before 11am.
The upside of having your own business are plenty.
One of the downsides is that the work always needs to be done.
And, other than the Sessions which the coaches can cover, time off requires doing the work at some other point.
Like most work.
Skipping workouts or avoiding better food decisions doesn’t mean that work then doesn’t need to be done.
It just pushes it to a different time.
And, often, increases the amount of work to be done.
Not only do we need to do what needs to be done to improve our fitness and body fat levels from where they were……..
We, perhaps, now have even more to do.
We can just not do it, of course.
But we will end up further away from the results that we desire.
I could easily just not write today’s blog.
One probably wouldn’t make any difference whatsoever.
But one would easily become two.
Other standards I set in the business would begin to slip.
Before I know it, I can’t pay the bills.
—- It’s 8.06 and I’ve just got home. I’ll be back shortly —-
Right, I’m back.
It’s 8.37 and I’m sat in the school car park waiting for the traffic to clear.
Let’s resume.
I was pretty much done, to be honest.
The point had been made.
In most areas of life, the work just needs to be done to get the result that we desire.
We can defer that work, but that just means it has to be done later.
And our best progress will probably come from some combination of slowing down and speeding up as circumstance dictates.
Not just stopping completely with a view to restarting in the future with even more work to do (it’s www.myrise.co.uk/apply if you’ve had enough of stop-start and are ready to make this the time that you actually get there, over time)888.
Much love,
Jon ‘I don’t get why online banking payments are delayed on Bank Holidays in this day and age’ Hall
P.S. I assume they just do it to keep hold of people’s money for an extra day
P.P.S. It’s 9.41 and I’m publishing this back in my home office (using a system that I’ll reference tomorrow) – 79 minutes to spare!
