So, yesterday was the Wilmslow Half Marathon.
Rescheduled (due to snow, amazingly) from March.
I’d set doing it in under two hours as one of my goals for this year.
If you read our blogs at the time, you’ll know that, when it was snowed off, I went out the next day and ran the course by myself.
I’d put the training in, felt ready and didn’t want to risk not being able to do it when rescheduled.
I got my time.
Just.
I couldn’t do yesterday’s rescheduled event in the end due to my Dad’s 70th birthday party being rescheduled from January (again due to snow).
And I’m actually recovering from an unconfirmed broken toe.
So I probably wouldn’t have done it anyway as it’s not quite ok yet.
And I’ve done next to no running in the last month.
So, it was a good job I did it when I did.
Goal achieved, when it wouldn’t have been if I’d waited.
Don’t put off exercise
It’s like many things in life.
Leaving it till later often doesn’t pay off.
Getting it done as soon as we can usually works better.
Not doing it when we can is tempting fate.
Stuff invariably comes up / happens that gets in the way.
Miss a workout when you could do one……….
Thinking “I’ll do it tomorrow”……….
Then something’s bound to happen tomorrow to mean you can’t.
Don’t have a bit of plan ahead of the coming days / weeks meals………….
Leaving it till Hungry O Clock to sort………
The most convenient option probably won’t be great.
Don’t put your workout gear in the bag the night before when you have a few minutes…………
It’s bound to be forgotten in the morning rush.

Then you’ll regret it in a few days when all the spaces have gone.
And so on.
Get it done when you can. Don’t put off exercise.
And you won’t regret it when it then can’t happen 🙂
