Part of the reason we get such greater tendons at our social events is I keep asking people over and over until I get an answer.
They can say “No”, but I’ll keep asking until I get that or “Yes”.
It’s why we’ve had many social events with attendances of over 100 over the years.
Whilst GloboGyms with 5 to 10,000 members either don’t have socials or get half a dozen people out for them.
Because they put up a couple of posters and send out an email or two.
When I was talking to members about the bowling social, a number of them replied with some version of “I’m not very good at bowling”.
“That’s not the point” I replied.
“None of us are going bowling because we’re good at bowling”.
“We’re going because it’s an activity to do whilst we chat and have fun!”
Some of those that had said that then came bowling and really enjoyed themselves.
I have no idea what their score was because that’s not what we were there for.
People sometimes express similar thoughts with regards to exercise.
They don’t do it, or do less of it then they could, because they’re “not very good at it”.
“That’s not the point” is, again, my reply.
We do it for the benefits it brings.
The improvement it makes that how our bodies look and feel.
Our mood and mental health (it’s www.myrise.co.uk/apply for a proven system that will help you improve all of these).
We might get better at exercise over time.
But that’s not really relevant.
We’ll just do a harder version of it then anyway.
So it remains challenging and effective.
We’re not exercising to be good at it.
We’re exercising so we become more “good” in the ways that are important to us.
Much love,
Jon ‘Challenging and effective’ Hall
