I mentioned in Monday’s blog that most Friday mornings I do a Session at 9am at Fit:Missions in Bakewell.
And most Thursday mornings I do a Session at CrossFit Buxton at 9.30.
I’ll be not long out of that one when this blog comes out.
People sometimes express surprise when they hear this.
“I’m surprised you need someone else to train you” is something I’ve heard many times before.
Which I get.
When you work in the Fitness Industry, people think you’re, essentially “different”.
That motivation flows automatically, constantly and you always find eating well and exercising regularly easy.
I haven’t done some form of exercise most days for twenty years straight now because I love it…………
It’s because I’ve found multiple ways to make it sufficiently enjoyable, keep it relatively interesting and continue to tie it into the, ever changing, things that are truly important in my life.
Ultimately, no one “needs” someone else to train them.
No one “needs” someone to help them with the eating side of things.
You’ve been able to get free workouts and meal plans online for decades now.
No one “needs” help with anything in life to be honest.
But that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t benefit with some help in various areas, for a variety of reasons.
Many FitPros market what they do as something you “need”.
But, I’ll be honest, you don’t.
You could, in theory, do everything we’ll help you with, without us.
We can’t do any of it ‘for you’.
All the exercise will be you moving your body.
All the better food choices will be done by you (mentally and physically).
We won’t be able to do a single bit of it for you.
But we can make it infinitely more likely that it will happen.
We can make it way more enjoyable.
I don’t “need” to go for those Sessions at Fit:Missions and CrossfFit Buxton.
But they, invariably, make me do some exercises I would be far less likely to do by myself.
I’ll work harder than I would do training by myself
And it’s more enjoyable.
I pick up new ideas.
Improve my own technique where I hadn’t necessarily realised I could.
What good help, in any area of life, does is make it more likely that we’ll do those things.
And, ideally, make it easier for us to do them.
What we do at RISE is take people from “can” (and “should” and “ought to”) and on to “are”.
