The final way in which we might make an “inappropriate” choice is in our ‘risk assessments’.

We consider things to be more (or less) likely than they are and allow this to affect or limit our behaviour and choices.

Or we, maybe, don’t consider all the relevant risks.

We’re scared of flying even though we are 2,200 more times likely to die in a car crash.

We don’t do things because we’re worried about what other people will say and do when, in all likelihood, most are too busy with their own stuff to even care.

We drink or eat because we’re concerned what other people will think if we don’t and haven’t so much as tested that theory out.

We don’t take action on something that we want to do because we’re worried about how it might turn out when, let’s face it, the risk of not taking action is often greater.

As Jim Rohn says “If you think trying is risky, wait until you get the bill for not trying”.

Us humans are risk assesment machines.

We do it all day, every day.

So, it’s perhaps questioning if we’re making the most appropriate risk assessments for us?

Much love,

Jon ‘sky Business’ Hall
