Yes, you read yesterday’s P.S. right – today’s article is about ironing while giving birth.

Alex, Izzie and I went to see some friends (Suzi, Phil, Max and Ivy) on Saturday night.

Found out that Suzi reads these emails BTW – hey Suze 😉

Alex was telling us a story she’d heard from her work colleague Antoinette about what her brother did when he and his wife were in hospital having their baby recently.

She’d left him with the responsibility of packing the bag with what she / they would need while she was in hospital.

And he packed an iron.

Seriously.

Part of me admires his thinking – packing for all eventualities.

But, ultimately it was fairly pointless.

Having a baby is time consuming enough without thinking you need to crack on with the ironing.

One thing at time and all that.

###################################################

It’s the same with changing things in your life – one thing at a time.

Get the hang of one thing before you move on.

People sometimes get disheartened when they haven’t managed to change the habits of a lifetime after just a few weeks.

I tell them it takes time.

Get the hang of one thing now and in a week, or a month, or 6, when you’ve mastered that, move on to something else.

And remember the “one toy in – one toy out” concept from the other day.

Don’t just keep adding more and more stuff into your life.

Take things away.

Make space for the new stuff you’ve got coming in.

Much love,
