Apparently if you follow the chronology within it, the bible reckons the earth is about 6,000 years old.

I say apparently as I’ve not read it to confirm.

As I mentioned only yesterday, the most commonly accepted age of the earth is about 4.5 billion years.

Out by a factor of 760,000.

Which is the equivalent to estimating the 120 miles distance between London and Birmingham as 10 inches.

Now, I completely get that the writers of the bible were going with what they knew, or felt they knew, at the time.

The information needed to accurately calculate the age of the earth wasn’t there.

The science hadn’t got that far.

People were doing their best with the ‘info’ they had available at the time.

As we often do in life.

We do the best with the knowledge we have at that point.

But, sometimes, better knowledge comes along.

For many, many years weight loss was a bit vague.

Exercise too.

“Eat less” was about the extent of our knowledge on how to lose weight.

“Be more active” pretty much covered exercise.

Nowadays we have some pretty precise number behind weight loss.

They’re not perfect and there are variations within them, sure.

But much, much more accurate than we’ve had in the past.

All the studies show we lose weight in a verified, sustained, calorie deficit.

When the numbers are accurate enough the result is pretty consistent.

So, if the result isn’t happening in everyday life, it’s just the numbers aren’t happening.

And given the right physical stimulus, increases in fitness and stamina are guaranteed.

Variable in speed of progress person to person, sure.

Although we can always help speed up that progress in all areas. Reply with ‘Great’ if you’d like to find out more about that and how you can spend the next 8 weeks making yourself feel better, rather than worse!

But always progress given the right inputs.

And energy and mood nearly always go in that direction too.

It’s human nature to do our best with the information available to us at the time.

But when new information becomes available (and let us know if you’re anything less than 100% sure what that looks like for you) we can get some ‘better answers’.

Much love,

Jon ‘7th day sleepyist’ Hall
