Research shows that, as a society, we are more sleep deprived than at any point in history.
It’s something members often talk to us about.
About how tired they feel.
The answer, in theory, is simple.
Go to bed earlier.
In practice, that’s easier said than done.
That time when we would have to go to bed is often the only chance we would get to get some quality time with our other half.999999
To wind down.
To watch our favourite programme.
That extra hour or so then, might be a 100% increase of that time.
But only a 15% decrease in the sleep we get.
So, we get why we might choose to spend it that way.
And, if it’s working, that’s cool.
If it’s not, is it worth questioning?
If our energy levels the next day mean we get 50% as much done, or get 50% of the enjoyment from it (or less), then was it the right choice?
Better mood and mental health throughout the day is, I’m sure you’ll agree, a bigger win than an extra hour “chilling” at the end of the day.
As always, no right or wrong.
We’re not going to do what most of the Fitness Industry do and tell you to “go to bed earlier”.
We get why you might not.
But we also get it might be worth questioning that choice when we take into account all the implications.
Much love,
Jon ‘Doc, Bashful, etc’ Hall
