I’ve got a sum for you.
Don’t worry, it’s easier than you might think.
Mainly because I’ve put the answer in the blog title 😉
Add up all these fractions, which are half of the preceding one, forever;
1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 + 1/32 + 1/64………. 1/16,777,216……
What do you get?
You guessed it.
1.
Exactly 1.
If I’d not given you the answer, would you have guessed that low?
Adding together an infinite number of numbers?
I’d have thought it’d come to more, to he honest.
But what is particularly interesting is the overall impact of the first couple of inputs.
We get 3/4 of the total benefit from just two inputs out of an infinite number of potential inputs.
We’re just shy of 95% of the way there after only four.
Much like many things in life.
Diminishing returns.
If we’re wanting to get to the 99.999% levels needed for The Olympics, we’ll have to have a of of inputs in place.
If we just want to get in reasonable shape, a few will do.
Do some sort of progressive exercise 1 to 3 times (or more) per week (whilst this is what we’re most well know for, we’re very good at helping with the other bits too –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply) .
Eat in average calorie maintenance or deficit from a bit more natural, fresh stuff and a bit less processed foods.
That’ll get you most of the way there.
You may want to add a bit more water, a bit more sleep and some sort of stress relief / relaxation practice.
Everything after that has value, sure.
But relatively little.
And it’s fairly pointless if we’re not getting the first 75% in.
Much love,
Jon ‘Fractious’ Hall
