Every now and again I get comments along the following lines on some of our posts on social media;

“If you cared that much about helping people, you’d do it for free”

“Money grabbing”

“Only doing it for the money”

And so on.

Depending on the exact comment, I sometimes reply with something along the lines of;

“It’s amazing that you’re independently wealthy and don’t need to be paid for the work that you do. Unfortunately, I’m not that lucky and I have bills to pay and four children to feed and need to earn money from what I do to do that”.

Which, you’ll be unsurprised to hear, very rarely gets a response.

Because wanting to help people isn’t mutually exclusive to wanting to get paid for it.

In fact, it’s actually directly correlated.

Only by getting paid for it, can I continue to help people.

And there are lots of similar things in life.

‘Healthy food’ isn’t mutually exclusive to ‘tasty food’.

‘Living healthily’ isn’t mutually exclusive to ‘having fun’.

‘Busyness’ isn’t mutually exclusive with ‘regular exercise’.

And some of those are, I would say. directly correlated.

The better our energy levels and mood, the more fun we can have.

The more we look after our focus and stamina, the more productive and time effective we can be.

Sometimes two things can’t go together.

Sometimes they can.

Sometimes it’s best if they do (it’s www.myrise.co.uk/apply when you’re ready to put some of those together)

Much love,
