Chatting to a few more of our lovely new ninjas yesterday.
And, as happens, every month, a few of them commented on their frustration at how hard it is to lose weight and get in shape.
It’s another mind set shift that our new guys end up going through during their first few weeks with us.
As they come to the realisation that it’s not actually harder.
Just a change in the way we view the things that need to be done to get where you want to get to.
One ‘Flip It’ we often talk about is to imagine that you’d always done the things you needed to do.
And you were looking at doing the opposite.
Because you wanted to gain fat for some reason.
Let’s say you’d always drank plenty of water – free out of the tap.
And someone recommended that you go to the shop and buy and drink loads of diet coke.
Or go to the kettle 5 times a day for a coffee.
Or spend £50 a week and several hours on consuming alcohol.
Let’s say you’d always gone to bed at a reasonable time and had a good bed time routine.
And someone suggested that you should stay up for a few hours watching tele.
Or invested in another tele in the bedroom or an iPad for checking Facey and playing games in bed.
Let’s say you’d always bought plenty of fresh, natural foods and had a well stocked fridge and cupboards.
And your friend suggested you need to go down some new aisles at the supermarket and get some ready meals, pot noodles, sugar based cereals, etc.
Let’s say you’d always batch cooked several healthy meals in one go on a Sunday night and your total food prep time was 2 hours for the week.
And your friend suggested spending 20 minutes popping to the canteen / Starbucks / shop each day and going 5 minutes out if your way and waiting 10 minutes for a take out on the way home – for a total prep / sourcing time of 4 hours per week.
I’m sure you get the idea.
It’s rarely actually more effort.
It’s more changing the way you perceive these things.
And making smart choices with the way you do it.
And, on the occasions when it is more effort, appreciating that living longer and being happier is worth it 🙂
