💡💡💡

A few weeks ago 90 year old Margaret Keenan became the first member of the public to received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination.

Now this blog isn’t designed to discuss the pros and cons of this (or any other) vaccination programme.

That’s my disclaimer so, hopefully, no one feels the need to reply to give me their thoughts on this or anything else COVID related 😉

This is just one of my observations about the situation.

Many people have commented about how fast this vaccine has made it to market compared to usual.

And it does seem very fast.

Only time will tell if it was too fast, of course.

But I think it’s fair to say that a direct comparison to other vaccines isn’t 100% fair.

This has been an all hands on deck situation.

The ‘man hours’ that have gone into have been phenomenal.

It’s jumped the queue in various ways.

It taking maybe a fifth of the time of another vaccine, doesn’t mean one fifth of the research, testing, procedures, etc have gone into it.

Much like most things, it’s whether or not something is done that is key, not how long it takes / took.

It’s like when they’d throw up a building in a day on Challenge Anneka.

One day empty field, next day fully operative Youth Centre.

Was it as good a building as one that took six months to make?

Maybe not.

Was it plenty good enough for what was needed under the circumstances?

Seemed to be.

This email isn’t really about COVID vaccinations (cough ** no replies needed ** cough).

It’s to start a parallel.

And I’ve been wanting to mention Challenge Anneka in these blogs for a while.

And my wife looks a little bit like Anneka Rice and she’ll like me mentioning that in here.

——– Having just googled, I’ve found that her real name was Anne Rice – she “adopted the name “Anneka” when she joined the British actors’ union Equity, as an Annie Rice had already been registered” ————

It’s sometimes tempting to think that things need to take longer than they actually do.

And when we don’t have that amount of time, to not do anything at all.

To think that a workout has to last 45 or 60 minutes.

And when we can’t do that to no exercise at all.

Where 5 or 10 minutes would both have had benefit and kept it so we were “speeding up and slowing down as circumstance dictates”.

Not stopping and starting.

To think that a healthy meal requires fresh ingredients cooked from scratch and will take ages.

Or that “healthy eating” means loads of meal planning and batch cooking.

And, whilst we can do those things………..

We could just eat what we were going to eat anyway in a calorie deficit or maintenance.

Which, of course, takes a little less time than the same thing eaten to a surplus.

With our health and fitness, we can take more time over things.

And it will, sometimes, lead to better results.

But it doesn’t mean that the quickest, easiest to do, highest return on investment version isn’t still worth doing.

If anything, they’ll be the difference maker between results and no results over time.

Much love,

Jon ‘Treasure Hunt’ Hall

P.S. We’re all about the highest return on investment activities rather than lots of stuff that adds up to very little. Check myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you like the sound of that.
