I mentioned a couple of weeks ago about how I went to a quarterly meet up for the coaching program that I’m part of at Everton’s Goodison Park ground in Liverpool.

Six months prior to this, the quarterly meet up was held at Manchester City’s Etihad stadium.

The comedian Russell Kane was the guest speaker.

He was really interesting.

He didn’t talk about what I expected him to.

One thing he did say that particularly struck home with me was the title of this blog.

With regards to audience reactions not going as he’d like it to.

“It’s never the audience. It’s you.”

When a joke or a section of an act or an act as a whole isn’t received as he would have liked or expected……..

It would be easy to blame it on the audience.

As it often is easy to blame others when something we do doesn’t lead to the outcome we desire.

It’s a brave decision to accept that the outcome not being as we’d like was largely down to the way that we approached it.

And that there will be adjustments that we can make in order to achieve the outcome we want.

Not necessarily easy adjustments to make……….

But adjustments that can be made nonetheless

And adjustments that get us the outcome we want.

If we’re getting frustrated that we’re gaining or not losing weight……..

It’s a brave decision to accept that it’s not our metabolism………

It’s not how busy we are………

It’s not what other people have done or said……..

It’s not the logistics of our life………

It’s entirely down to us and what we chose to eat.

And remembering that, much like changing a comedy act, it’s probably not drastic, wholesale changes that are needed.

Some little adjustments, some little tweaks and refinements here and there (check www.myrise.co.uk/apply if you like the sound of a doable but surprisingly effective approach)……..

Can all add up to us getting the outcome we desire from the process.

Much love,

Jon ‘That’s gotta be…… that’s gotta be Kane!’ Hall
