Even with good retention, every month we get an amount of leavers.

Some logistical reasons – relocation, change of circumstances, etc.

Unavoidable.

Sometimes some variation on needing to save money / not using it enough / not getting enough results to justify the cost.

And, ultimately, all of those are really the latter.

When people are getting amazing, life changing results, the cost is never an issue.

Other financial tweaks are prioritised, if necessary.

It’s when the results don’t justify the cost that it becomes a different conversation in or heads.

When we don’t feel we’re “getting our money’s worth”.

Which I get.

We all want to feel we’re getting value.

And it can pain us a little if we don’t feel we are.

And there are two ways to stop that pain.

And one involves a lot more work than the other.

It can easily feel like yet “another thing” to add to our long list of stuff in our already busy and challenging lives.

I get it.

But…………

It’s always worth remembering………….

It’s not ‘a’ thing.

It’s ‘the’ thing.

It’s looking after ourselves.

Providing ourselves with the health, physical ability, energy levels, focus and mood to do all those other things.

To be the best spouse, parent, employee, employer or whatever else that we can be RIGHT NOW.

Not just about weighing less in a few months time.

To stand a good chance of continuing to do those things better in the future and for longer.

It’s ‘the thing’ that comes before those things and drives them.

It’s not about deprivation and forcing ourselves to do stuff we don’t like.

It’s about treating ourselves with love, care and respect.

Caring about what we put into our body because of how it make us look, feel and act.

It makes me sad when someone cancels as they’ve “haven’t been averaging three sessions a week”.

“So what?” I feel like saying.

They’ve often stopped the spiralling weight gain and feel better physically and mentally than they have in years.

And are about to throw that all away because some people come more often and, perhaps, get better results.

Again, I get it.

It can be tempting to try something a little cheaper.

But that thing didn’t work last time and, chances are, it won’t again.

If the word case scenario is we get fitter and healthier, feel better and do a better job of those other things………..

Than we would’ve done otherwise…………

That’s more than sufficient value.

Aiming for perfect is a nice idea.

But when it can’t happen (as it usually can’t)………..

‘Nothing’ IS NOT the next best option.

Much love,

Jon ‘s we do for love’ Hall and Matt ‘Kurt Russell’ Nicholson

P.S. If you’ve had enough of having to chose between ‘perfect’ and ‘nothing’ and are finally happy to make steady, continual (and, therefore, greater) progress, then here’s your next step in doing that –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting
