My eldest son woke up in the middle of the night last weekend for the latest UFC show.
For those that don’t know, that’s a mixed martial arts fighting competition.
Where matches between competitors can end from knockout, referee stoppage or submission.
Submissions usually being given by one competitor tapping their hand three times on themselves, their opponent, or the referee.
“Tapping out” as it’s known.
It’s a very clear-cut ‘giving up’.
Unlike most times we ‘give up’ in normal life.
We don’t give up on our goals in quite such distinct way.
We do it bit by bit where it doesn’t really seem to matter.
It’s all those times that we didn’t do that bit of work for our job, side hustle or business when we could have done.
It was those times that we ate more than we had to.
Or where we’d miss the workout that we could have made.
It’s an accumulation of lots of little decisions rather than one big one.
But the most powerful part of that is knowing that the opposite applies.
That making more of those better decisions accumulates to the results that we desire.
It’s tempting to think that they don’t matter.
But if it was enough of those decisions that didn’t matter that added up to us not getting where we wanted to……….
Then it will be that it’s enough of those other decisions that add up to us being where we do want to be.
Much love,
