We talk a lot in these blogs (and in person) about ‘tactical swaps’.

About replacing a few food and drink choices with others that have less ‘impact’ on the body.

The swap bit is obvious.

It’s the ‘tactical’ that is sometimes missed.

The less actual impact it has on someone’s enjoyment of whatever they are doing, the better.

Generally.

The more likely they are to stick to it.

The swap isn’t “Going out” to “Not going out”.

“Having fun” to “Not having fun”.

“Eating enough” to “being hungry”.

“Enjoying my food” to “Eating like a rabbit”.

There’s no tactics there.

It’s a blunt force, pretty crappy approach that is unlikely to succeed, long term.

Could the swap be “Starter, main, two sides, pudding and 10 pints” to “Main and 5 G&Ts”?

If that swap genuinely wasn’t bearable, maybe we should question who we’re socialising with?

Could the swap be “Big Friday night out, fry up Saturday morning and hair of the dog after lunch” to “Drop the last couple of drinks on the Friday which we never benefit from, normal to light breakfast and not feel to crappy on Saturday”?

Or “Whole bar of Dairy Milk and feel crap after” to “A few squares and feel good after”?

“Getting my money’s worth when it’s all-inclusive or a buffet” to “Having just enough as you couldn’t pay be to gain weight and be less happy with my body, so why should I do it to get marginally better value from money less spent”?

And so on.

You get the point.

It’s swaps.

Not “cake shaped holes”.

It’s tactical.

Smart ones that don’t take away, but leave us level or maybe even add.

Much love,

Jon ‘Multi coloured shop’ Hall and Matt ‘Pogs’ Nicholson

P.S. If you, or a friend, are ready to swap “an extra pound or so a day in your pocket” for “a body you like the look and feel of more, increased energy, sleep and sex drive and reduced aches, pains and bloatedness” then this link is the next step –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting.
