Last Monday we had our monthly Coaching Day.
Where we try and get assessments done for the majority of members.
Some can’t make it that day so do it next time they’re in.
But we try and get most done to see where they’re up to and help set a plan going forward.
For some the results are great.
For others it is, perhaps, an opportunity to draw a line under what they’ve been doing and start making some choices that serve them better.
Sometimes people are disappointed with the results.
Happens everywhere.
More at most facilities if we’re being honest (we are renowned for our results)………..
But most places won’t admit it.
Putting the message out that all their members are getting great results.
Yet having a handful of (if any) success stories to share.
Sometimes we end up having a similar conversation a few times in a row.
Always an indicator that there’ll be others out there experiencing, thinking or feeling the same.
We had a few people express dissatisfaction at not getting the results they’d have hoped for “after everything I’m doing”.
When we looked a little deeper, what was being done hadn’t been getting done for all that long in the grand scheme of things.
After all, our results (in any area of life) are rarely a result of what we’re doing right now.
They’re a result of what we’ve done.
In the past.
Over weeks, months and years.
Where our body is right now isn’t a result of what we’re doing right now.
It’s a result of what we’ve done (or not).
Same with our careers, businesses, relationships and more.
RISE being in such a great position post COVID isn’t a result of what we’re doing now – it’s a result of what we did throughout COVID (and before).
Lead and lag indicators.
The lead indicator is the thing we can do and measure right now.
The lag indicator the delayed result of cumulative lead indicators.
Which is easy to forget.
As a species we love instant (or pretty quick, at least) gratification.
We want results for our efforts now.
And we get that.
But if we stop when the results don’t come……………..
We often miss out on the best results.
Of course, we need to make sure what we’re doing is the right thing to do for the result we desire.
———— Check with us if you’re unsure what that is —————–
But if we’re doing those lead indicators, the lag indicators will come.
Where we are right now isn’t a result of what we’re doing, it’s what we’ve done.
And where we will be in the future will be a result of what we’re doing now.
Much love,
Jon ‘Jaa Gale’ Hall
