A regular question I get asked at this time of year is “I suppose it’s really busy for you at the moment?”

An understandable question as conventional gyms, having been empty in December, will be absolutely rammed.

Big box gyms will be desperate to sign people up for the year knowing that most won’t come all that often.

At RISE the difference between December and January is much smaller.

Sure, the average member might come a bit less often in the run-up to and around Christmas……..

And then more often this month……..

But the difference is much less stark than in normal gyms.

Slowing down and speeding up as circumstance dictates rather than “stopping” and “starting again”.

Slightly more or less people in a Session makes relatively little difference to our work levels.

And our membership numbers stay roughly constant year round.

The programme has sold out every month for over a decade straight.

The main difference might be that I spend a bit more on paid marketing towards the end of the year……..

And then get more organic interest now.

In amongst that organic interest, I invariably get a number of former members considering returning at this time of year.

I only spoke to one yesterday.

Who expressed the same thing that countless former members have over the years;

“It’s the only thing that’s ever worked for me”

And then, like many of these conversations, this is followed up by some version of the following;

– “I’m just not sure I can fit it in at the moment”

– “It’s just not a good time”

– “I don’t know if I can get my money’s worth”

And I get all of those things.

I really do.

But in the vast majority of cases, nothing really has changed since last time they were a member and were making forward progress.

They had a lot on and it wasn’t particularly a good time then.

But they still did enough to make the best forward progress that they’ve ever got.

And, as I say to everyone, we’re better off making forward progress whilst using less of something than we might ideally like………

Then we are to make less forward progress, stand still or go backwards.

There is no version of reality where it makes more sense to gain weight and reduce energy and mood in order to get slightly better perceived value from something cheaper.

We wouldn’t gain weight and feel worse if we were paid to, so it makes zero sense to do that for some very vague (and frankly inaccurate) feeling of “value”.

Never forget that if I could click my fingers by magic and someone would have the body and energy levels that they desired without having to do anything at all………

I could charge 10 or 100 times more.

Despite the ratio of cost to “usage” being infinitely “worse”.

The percentage of maximal use of a service that we get is irrelevant.

It’s the results that we get from it.

If those results are better than from doing something else, then that is the key.

So if you’re a former member wanting to come back, or you’ve never tried us before and are fed up of just doing the same old every January and not getting what you want, then try our risk-free trial at www.myrise.co.uk/apply. We’ve got the last few spaces left for January now so don’t sleep on this or you’ll miss out

Much love,
