I’ve mentioned many times in these blogs that much of what the Fitness Industry talks about is off-putting to most people.
It often appeals to the FitPro saying it and to the relatively small proportion of the population who are like them – always loved exercise and been in great shape.
But for most people, it’s another suggestion that “this isn’t for me”.
I’ve seen another one become more popular recently.
Usually after a list of what people ‘don’t need’ for that particular form of exercise.
Maybe they don’t need experience or particular strength or fitness levels.
“Just bring energy” it will conclude.
Which is where I think it will lose a lot of people.
A continuing pattern I’ve seen in nearly 25 years of doing this is that most people are low in energy.
Or, at least, lower than they’d like.
Being told they need to bring the thing they’re lacking will make most switch off to it I would have thought.
Telling exhausted people to ‘bring energy’ is a bit like telling stressed people to ‘just relax’.
The right environment (cough *** RISE *** cough) doesn’t require motivation and energy upfront.
It helps build them.
Much love,
