No matter what our goals or our beliefs around what making better food choices look like……………
I’m pretty sure that every single one of us have, at times, consumed something………
And then, afterwards, thought “I probably shouldn’t have done that”.
And I’m fairly sure that if we hadn’t consumed all those things, we’d probably be in a different position results wise now.
All those extra mouthfuls, last drinks, random bits of food, etc would probably have added up to hundreds of thousands of calories over the years.
For, I would wager, next to no difference in how much we’d enjoyed our lives.
If we’d just made a different decision on 10 or 20% of those instances, we could well be a stone or three lighter (or whatever other, better result those different choices would have led to).
So here is a little technique that you could try next time.
Just leave it for 10 minutes.
We can all do that, can’t we?
If you still want to eat or drink it then, go for it.
We’re not telling ourselves that we “can’t” or “won’t” have it…….
We’re not demonising it…….
We’re not giving our mates a little sly grin and sideways look because we’re being “naughty”…….
We won’t beat ourselves up whatever the decision is…….
Just that we’ll decide in 10 minutes.
Try it.
Much love,
Jon ‘Till Dawn’ Hall
