I would say in every sessions I’ve ever taken, a good half or more of the people in it weren’t really feeling like it when they arrived.
They’d dragged themselves there when there was other stuff they could be or would rather be doing.
But by the end of the session, they were enjoying themselves and were glad they’d come.
In fact it rarely takes to the end of the session.
By the end of the warm up, people are starting to feel it.
So maybe that should be what we aim to do.
Just the warm up.
We commit to getting to RISE and doing the warm up three times a week.
If we want to leave at that point, we can.
But, chances are, having warmed up, we’ll want to keep going.
And it’s the same with most things.
It’s that first bit that feels the hardest.
Once we get moving it’s not so bad (check out RISE in Macclesfield if you’re ready to get past that tricky first step. We’ll help you getting started with fitness).
Getting Started with Fitness
So maybe the getting started is all we should ever concentrate on?
The equivalent to warming up.
Don’t feel like doing a health food shop?
‘Warm up’ by getting to the shop and put one good choice is your trolley.
Or start an online food shop and pick one item.
Don’t feel like drinking loads of water?
‘Warm up’ with one glass.
Feel a 10 minute meditation is beyond you?
‘Warm up’ with 30 seconds with your eyes closed.
Whatever you’re struggling with, just aim for a ‘warm up’.
Just get going and see how you feel then 🙂
Much love,
Jon ‘Tap’ Hall and Matt ‘Climate’ Nicholson
