I mentioning yesterday’s blog that “life’s hard”.

A few years ago I heard something about this that really stuck with me.

“Life’s supposed to be hard. How do I know? Because it always is”

Let’s let that ‘settle’ for a minute……….

If you were to survey every single person you know and ask them if their life is hard, how many do you think would say no?

I’ve wager not many.

So could we just come to the acceptance that it’s supposed to be that way?

That we can, at most, just “choose our hard”.

Not always and in every situation, sure.

Some stuff is just sh!t.

But I think we can probably ‘choose our hard’ more often than we might like to tell ourselves.

We can choose our hard of assigning time and effort into regular exercise…….

Or we can choose our hard of a body we like the look and feel of less, lower energy levels, increased risk of many health challenges, etc.

We can choose our hard of making different food choices that we’re less keen on…….

Or we can choose our hard of extra body fat and the challenges that brings.

We can choose our hard of difficult conversations with people…….

Or we can choose our hard of deteriorating relationships, worsening work outcomes and so on.

We can choose our hard of extra work, study, pushing ourselves into challenging situations at works, etc…….

Or we can choose our hard of lower satisfaction, performance and / or income.

We can choose our hard of trying mediation (for more than 3 minutes every year or two)…….

Or we can choose our hard of a focus and mood that isn’t where we’d like it to be.

And so on.

Life’s supposed to be hard.

Some bits are beyond our control.

But much of it is.

Much love,

Jon ‘y Boyz’ Hall
