Another thing that I’ve seen written on some gym walls over the last few years is the title to this blog.

“Lift like no one’s watching”.

Again, I get the idea.

No one likes to feel like they’re being watched.

Especially when they’re exercising.

But it’s a powerful realisation to make that the vast majority of the results that we achieve in life occur through what we choose to do when no one is watching.

It’s not like the movies.

Where it’s big decisions and emotive music playing in the background.

It’s the accumulation of thousands of little decisions made when each individual one doesn’t seem to matter.

So, maybe we’d benefit from making our decisions as though people were watching.

We probably have a more beneficial workout if someone who’s opinion we cared about was watching us do it, wouldn’t we?

We’d probably be less tempted to procrastinate over the difficult tasks at work if our kids were watching.

—– Other family members, friends or people who’s opinion you value are available ——

There’s a poster above my desk from my coaching programme which, amongst other phrases, includes “work like your kids are watching”.

Next to it is a photo frame that my wife gave me one year with different pictures of the kids in.

And, next to that, are some framed newspaper cuttings of my Grandpa.

When I’m tempted ‘d!ck about’ on my phone when there’s important, but challenging, work to be done…….

A quick glance up at them gets me going again.

Remember, that it’s what you do when no one is watching that’s the biggest difference maker.

And imagining that someone is watching is a powerful way to get more at those points.

Much love,
