If you read these blogs religiously (and, frankly, why wouldn’t you?) you’ll know I had my first COVID jab the other week.

As I assume most people will have done, I booked my second one at the same time.

For 8 weeks after.

I picked what should be a relatively straight forward time.

First thing on a morning where we only have two of the kids and my wife should be fine with the school run.

Something will probably come up for the same time, but it’ll have to wait.

That jab will get done.

It’s scheduled and will happen exactly when planned.

As it’s framed as a non negotiable.

Because it could, potentially, be life saving.

My own or others.

But, we all know our individual chance of dying from COVID is relatively low.

A fairly high portion of us will die younger than we have to due to our diet and lack of exercise though.

And, probably, have had a body we like the look and feel of less and lower energy levels and mood along the way.

But we don’t see the things that will help with that as being as important, do we?

Now, I do get it.

I know it’s a bit different.

It’s two blocks of an hour or so compared to “the rest of our lives”.

But seeing things as a non negotiable is just a choice.

The way we frame it in our minds.

We could chose to schedule our workouts 8 weeks out and not allow anything to get in their way.

More realistically, we’d plan them at the start of the week.

And protect them.

Sure, they’ll have to move sometimes, unavoidably.

But perhaps not as readily as they currently / used to do.

If we’re not scheduling them and planning on “fitting them in when I can”……..

Then scheduling them before the other things that the workouts benefit (our work, etc) would be a great next step.

We all know “fitting it in” means it probably won’t happen (enough).

Much love,

Jon ‘I’d had a workout just before my COVID jab so both shoulders were sore anyway’ Hall
