I know I originally said I was going to cover about how best to set New Year’s resolutions (and goals in general) over five blogs.
But I thought of a sixth thing.
It’s a more common reason for not achieving our goals than we might realise.
We just forget to do them sometimes.
We set out with great intentions……..
Do it for a little while………
Maybe miss a couple for genuine reasons……..
Then realise it’s been weeks since we’ve done anything.
When we could have done something, if we’re being honest with ourselves.
We just forgot, didn’t we?
So, how can we make it so we don’t forget?
Could we schedule these things on a repeat in our diary?
I have certain times of the week scheduled for exercise from now until the end of time.
Sure, these times often end up changing.
But being in the diary in the first place makes them way more likely to happen.
I have the goals I’m working on at the moment printed off and directly in front of me in my little home office.
I check them every week when setting the plan for that week and every morning and evening when finalising the plan for that day or the next.
They then get put in my schedule for some time that week or day.
And I check my schedule regularly throughout the day.
Sometimes the things don’t end up happening, sure.
But it’s never that I forgot about them.
Such a method may work for you.
Some other way might be better.
But, if you’re just sometimes forgetting to do the thing you set out to do………
How can you make it so that your memory isn’t the limiting factor.
Setting out to just remember to do something………
Is the surest way to forget to do it.
Much love,
