Of all the responses we have heard from Personal Training Clients over the years, one the most common must be “It’s not that easy”. Generally given in response to suggestions as to things they can do to help them lose weight, tone up and / or get fit.

Our response is always the same – “What is that easy?”

In this life nothing is as easy as saying words that describe it. Going to the pub isn’t as easy as saying “go to the pub”. Eating pizza isn’t as easy assaying “eat some pizza”. And so on. It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do it because it requires more effort than saying a few words.

The key to successful weight loss (or other goals) is to make the things you need to do part of your lifestyle. Don’t think of them as things you have to do, just things that you do. You don’t think about whether you should go to work today, whether you should pick the kids up from school, whether you should watch TV or any of the other things you may do on a regular basis – they are just things that you do.

At the RISE Group and 1:1 Personal Training Clubs in Buxton, Derbyshire and Macclesfield, Cheshire, we work on helping clients and members make the mental shift to just doing these things, to making them part of their daily routine.

That’s one of the many reasons why what we do differs so greatly from what you get at a gym, health club, slimming world, weight watchers or a Zumba class – it’s not just “This is what you need to do”, “This is the diet you need to follow” or “This is your new exercise plan”, but looking at how best to approach these changes to make them stick – to make them something you just do.
