One of the things that people tell me the most frequently that they struggle with is motivation.
Which I get.
We all do at times.
But, there are a few considerations around motivation that might help us.
Firstly, it’s not binary.
It’s not something that you either ‘have’ or ‘don’t have’.
You’re not “motivated” or “not motivated”.
It’s more of a sliding scale.
With 1 out of 10 being you literally can’t think of anything worse in the whole world to do.
10 out of 10 being absolutely obsessed and desperate to do it.
And, realistically, our motivation will slide back and forth around a more central range.
And it will vary person to person and dependent on the situation.
We all feel higher and lower ranges of motivation for different things.
Thinking that motivation is binary will probably mean that when our motivation doesn’t feel like an 8 or more out of 10, we consider that we’re “not motivated”.
But, maybe, we were ‘motivated enough’.
And maybe rather than asking ourselves if we’re motivated or not, a better question might be “What are my motivation levels on a scale of 1 to 10?”
And “How do I increase that number?”
With the most likely answer to that question being to do the thing.
Our motivation levels to exercise and eating better will increase if we exercise and eat better (which you can do at www.myrise.co.uk/apply whilst actually enjoying the process for once!).
Much love,
