I read a really interesting bit of research the other day.

Into the differences in relationships between couples that go into said relationships with different views on relationships in general.

Those who thought that “there was just one true love out there for all of us” were, on average, less likely to compromise, or to use ‘adaptive behaviours’ and would spend less time on ‘trying to make a relationship work’.

Overall they were less happy in their relationships.

Higher separation and divorce rates.

When you think there’s just the one, it can be easy to think “this one isn’t it”.

Not always, of course, before people respond and point out that’s not the case with them.

But ‘on average’.

Those that felt that there wasn’t just one person out there………..

That there was, in theory, loads………..

And that it was more about finding one of them and then working on the challenges and making it work.

If general, if we believe something is just meant to be or not, we are less likely to persist and to find ways through challenges.

Same with our bodies.

If we just ‘accept’ that this is the way it is and it always will be……….

If we think it’s just our genetics…………..

Then we’re less likely to persist and find those resolutions to problems.

When we remember that, whilst, there are things that might make it harder or easier………..

We can work through them.

It’ll take time and effort, sure.

And sometime it will piss us off 😉

But it’ll be worth it 🙂

Much love,

P.S. Many of our members have found they can ‘make it work with us’ after years of ‘serial dating’ with gyms, slimming clubs and the like. Check myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you want to see if we could make it work 😉
