In yesterday’s blog, I talked about other road users’ behaviour affecting people’s mood.
And then, potentially, their own actions.
One thing that was brought up a few times was tailgating.
Which, many agreed, felt a bit more “personal”.
You see someone speeding or just generally driving badly and the entirety of our thoughts are along the lines of “look at this clown”.
Someone driving close up behind us can feel more like they’re saying we’re driving too slowly.
And they feel their journey is ‘more important than ours’.
I can be tempting when someone is driving is driving close behind us to speed up a little.
But, invariably, they’ll catch up again to the same distance.
We’ve gone from a sufficient gap in front and an insufficient one behind…………
To insufficient gaps on both sides.
We’ve made the situation worse for ourselves.
Two wrongs, of course, not making a right.
As it rarely, if ever, does.
None more so that with our eating.
The answer to over consuming is not more over consumption.
Like getting closer to the car in front, that just makes it even worse.
Much love,
Jon ‘My driving instructor used to say “gear before beer” which he meant to mean “change gear before giving it some beer (oomph)” but I, and all my friends, only ever heard as “cannabis before alcohol”‘ Hall
P.S. For the parents of school kids out there, the kids will be back at school over the coming days. Time for you now? It’s www.myrise.co.uk/apply to take that next step!
