I saw a post on Facebook the other day.

It was referencing a wedding where only five guests had turned up.

The bride had posted about her disappointment having “sent 75 digital invitations and 25 paper ones”.

My immediate thought was “Had she not requested an RSVP and chased up for numbers?”

Because, having got married twice, I knew exactly who was coming where they’d be sat and much more weeks in advance.

It reminded me about many conversations I’ve had with people in the past about attendance at our social events.

Which has always been really good.

We’ve had a number of events with over a hundred people in attendance and countless in the mid to high double figures.

Which, as a percentage of our membership base, is insane.

I’ve spoke to other facility owners and Fitness Professionals who’ve tried running socials and given up because next to no-one came.

When I asked what they’d done to get people booked in, it amounted to similar to this bride.

They’d done a post in the Facebook group or sent out an email.

Maybe mentioned it in a few sessions.

For every social we’ve ever done, I’ve asked every individual member repeatedly until I’ve got an answer.

Through a combination of in-person conversations and messaging.

I don’t hassle people – If it’s a no, I won’t mention it again.

But I will check in with them to remind them that it would be great to see them there and see if they can make it.

The great attendance at our socials is the accumulation of lots of little efforts in the preceding weeks and months.

As is the same with most results.

Going to the gym everyday for a few weeks and massively reducing our consumption will, obviously, produce a degree of progress.

But nothing compared to months and years steady attendance and average good choices.

It’s fine to have the periods of more intense focus and quicker forward progress in amongst that.

But it’s the little bits continuously over time that will really add up (it’s www.myrise.co.uk/apply for a risk-free 4 week trial of a proven system for helping with continuous progress AND periods of quick progress alongside each other)

Much love,

Jon ‘I wouldn’t have posted if only 5 people had turned up’ Hall
