Would you say you have good manners?

I’d wager that the vast majority who have answered that said “Yes”.

What about other people?

Does everyone else have manners as good as yours?

I reckon most will have said “No” to that.

Are you ever rude?

Are other people rude?

It’s tempting to think that everyone else has bad manners.

We have occasional bad moments.

Everyone else is rude.

We are sometimes a bit preoccupied.

We drive the perfect speed while everyone else is “a maniac” or “an old fuddy duddy”.

We expect “us” of everyone else.

And best case scenario “us” while we’re at it.

The version of ourselves that we probably are at some points, but not always.

Stopping expecting ourselves from other is freeing.

Doesn’t mean that we have to put it with behaviour that we’re not ok with.

But expecting other people to act in a way that;

– We haven’t communicated to them

– They haven’t agreed to do

– We don’t always do

Is the surest way to be drained by life.

Much love,

Jon ‘LMS’ Hall
