I was driving home the other day and heard an interesting stat on Canalside Radio.

It wasn’t necessarily the fact that was interesting, although you may think it is, it was how it was phrased.

The DJ announced that “The average Brit is planning on spending £1,108 on homeware items this year”.

Which I’m not sure is true to be honest.

I don’t think a single person is planning on spending £1,108 on homeware this year.

I don’t think there are conversations going on between couples where one of them wants to spend £1,608 and the other £608 and they decide to meet in the middle.

I’m pretty confident that it’s the total amount of money spent on homeware in Britain divided by the number of people.

The planning around that spend is probably relatively minimal.

And if anything, for many, they’ll spend more than they intended because of that lack of planning.

Much like we can do in other areas.

Such as our eating.

If we’ve gained a stone over the course of the last year, then we’ve consumed approximately 50,000 more calories than we needed.

That number isn’t mega precise, but the research shows it won’t be far from that.

And, in many cases, a little bit more planning around our eating would have meant we could hace easily made sure that didn’t happen.

Dropping a thousand calories a week can have zero impact on our enjoyment of life.

It might be checking a menu online, before we eat out, in order to know what somewhat lower calorie options we’ll enjoy just as much.

It might be some little reductions or tactical swaps elsewhere in the week to average out for times of higher consumption.

It might be giving some thought to our meal plans for the coming week.

Not batch cooking 21 meals in one go, but just not turning up to every meal and having to go with whatever’s easiest.

Ultimately, whatever we’re looking to spend less on……

Weather that be money on homeware or other items or on calories…….

A little bit of thought and planning can mean we spend less for exactly the same (or more) benefit (and clicking this link can, and will, change your life, with a Money Back Guarantee —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply) .

Much love,
