I was in the supermarket the other day and I noticed something.
Half the foods seem to have the word ‘protein’ on the labels.
Protein Mars Bars.
Protein bread.
Special K Protein.
And more.
I checked out the Special K Protein.
It has twice as much carbs as protein.
Now there’s nothing wrong with carbs – I’m not demonising them here.
But why isn’t it called Special K Carbs?
I get that it’s higher in protein that normal Special K.
As are all products with protein on the label compared to their ‘non protein’ versions.
Protein very much seems to be the buzz word nowadays.
Benefits of protein branded foods
And I’m not even saying we shouldn’t use higher protein versions of certain foods. There are benefits of protein branded foods.
Protein is an important part of what we eat.
But it’s just a reminder that it’s always worth checking what’s actually in something.
Rather than going off a buzzword on the front.
For many years things were labelled ‘low fat’.
They may have been perfectly fine choices.
But that labelling alone was no guarantee of that.
It could have been (and often was) pumped full of all sorts of random shite.
But it didn’t have as much fat in it a some other version.
Many of these products are, at best, ‘protein plated’.
You couldn’t call something that was ‘gold plated’ just ‘gold’.
So why can you do this?
When you know what you’re actually putting in your body, you stand a much better chance of putting in the right stuff and amounts to achieve your goals 🙂
Much love,

P.S. Less than a week now to that find out more meeting for the 21 Day Summer Slimdown. We’re not sure if we’re going to do this more than once, so don’t miss out –> Click this link to find out more about 21 Day Summer Slimdown.
P.P.S. Tomorrow, I’m going to cover what we do do food wise down here. Both for those that haven’t been down yet and for members who’ve, perhaps, wondered why we “don’t do meal plans”.
