I got a reply to last week’s ‘It’s like beating the boss’ blog.
Where I used an analogy of beating the ‘end of level bosses’ in video games being like continuing to work at our challenges until we get past them.
From Rich.
Rich joined us in June.
Did a Beach Body challenge over his first two months with us to drop over 11lbs of weight off and five percentage points and get down to 11% body fat.
“Great analogy!” he began.
“Takes me back to playing those types of games and usually panicking against the boss or at least always losing until working out the simple/repetitive way of defeating him each time!”
There was a couple of key words that jumped out to me there.
‘Simple’.
And ‘repetitive’.
Because, often, the answer to the things we’ve being struggling with is both.
It might not be easy, sure.
But it’s usually more simple than it seems at the time.
Keep in an average calorie deficit (or maintenance).
Get enough protein, vitamins and minerals.
Do some sort of progressive exercise you find enjoyable (or at least tolerable) as often as you can.
That’s the overwhelming majority of it.
Everything else is, kinda, window dressing.
Keep repeating those pretty simple things.
On average.
Week and week.
Month and month.
Year and year.
Don’t over-complicate it.
‘Simple and repeatedly’ doable will always……..
Always………
ALWAYS………
Beat ‘complicates and hard to maintain’.
Much love,
Jon
P.S. If you (or a friend) are tired of complicated, hard to follow and ineffective approaches and fancy trying a simple, but mega effective approach (cough ** Top 6 at The National Fitness Awards again this year ** cough), then it’s your monthly, no-pressure, chance to find out more tomorrow night. Just come down, check it out and see what you think –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting.
