If you didn’t know, SuperBowl in Macc has an offer on first thing in the morning.
If you’re in before 10am, it’s £2 a game for adults and £1 for kids.
Useful in school hols.
I went the other day with Izzie and Charlie.
Check the scores above.
Whenever we go, we all have our own targets.
120 for me, 100 for Alex, 90 for Oli and 80 for Izzie and Jamie.
We aim to hit those numbers.
When we first started going, the kids used to get upset because they were “getting beaten” by each other.
Or us.
Which isn’t really a fair target.
I should always beat the kids score.
This score shown is fully reflective of my (slightly better than average) bowling ability.
I’m disappointed with less than 120 and Oli and Izzie have only got over that once (with bumpers).
So we work towards our target.
And, although Izzie and I both missed it in this game, she, essentially beat me.
On “performance vs. target”.
Which is a much better way for us all to approach our health and fitness goals.
And most things in life, to be honest.
Performance vs. Target
A realistic target for our food, exercise and rate of weight loss (or other health and fitness goals).
Individual to us.
Something that may be a stretch.
But that we can do.
When we start ‘competing’ with others, they’ll always be someone “better”.
So we’ll always, essentially ‘lose’.
Someone is going to be bigger, stronger and faster than us.
Or slimmer.
Or losing weight quicker.
Or more able, for whatever reason, to eat and live a certain way.
Being aware of these things is fine.
But if it ain’t going to happen for us in the short term, we’re going to be disappointed if we focus excessively on them.
If we’re not likely to look like those Instagram models in the next four weeks, then probably not a great idea to spend too much time looking at them.
Set your own goals (come to our find out more meeting to start you journey might be one of them –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).
Ones that push and inspire you, sure.
But ones that you know, from experience you can do.
Keep doing them and, over time, the magic will happen 🙂
Much love,
Jon ‘178 best score’ Hall and Matt ‘187’ Nicholson
P.S. As far as I know, Matt’s never bowled a 187. It’s US Police code for a Homicide.
