There’s various bits of research that show that, subconsciously, most people will aim to finish the their meal at approximately the same time as the people they’re eating with.
It’s human nature to want to “cross the finish line” at the same time.
Hence the “Simultaneous orgasms?” blog title.
That and I knew that would make more people read this than a title about meals would.
Sneakster 😉
That same research shows, subsequently, when eating with people who eat more slowly……….
You’re likely to eat more rather than slowing your own eating.
Especially when there’s an amount out in the middle that you’re all sharing.
As with many of the things we point out in these blogs……..
Awareness is Step One.
We’re not saying going hungry.
That’s never the answer.
Long term anyway (less than two weeks to the find out more meeting. Check myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you, or a friend, like the idea of an approach that isn’t about going hungry).
But knowing that how much you’re eating can be affected by the speed of those around you……….
Can make a difference to how much you chose to have.
If you’re hungry, have some more.
If you’re not, don’t feel the need to keep going because someone else hasn’t finished yet.
Simples 🙂
Much love,
Jon ‘Equations’ Hall and Matt ‘Covariant’ Nicholson
