Over the years, I’ve been asked many, many questions.
The near never ending ones from my kids.
And, of course, from people looking to make some changes to their health, fitness, body, etc.
Members, clients, friends, people at parties, randoms and so on.
A fairly high proportion of those questions have started with “what’s the best way to……..”.
Followed by “lose weight”, “build muscle”, “get fit”, “improve my deadlift”, “sleep more”, “feel less stressed” or some other variation on a physical, mental or lifestyle change someone might like to make.
In my early years I would’ve answered that question.
Giving them my understanding of how to change that thing as quickly and effectively d possible.
Often they’d look a little disappointed.
My reply was usually something they knew already.
And / or had tried before.
And, maybe, done for a bit.
But struggled to maintain long term.
For some combination of finding it too boring, restrictive, time consuming, painful, logistically difficult and / or inconvenient.
I soon came to realise the ‘equation’ that I’ve alluded to in the title of this blog.
I only ‘initialised’ it to make it more likely that you’d actually read the whole thing 😉
Sub-optimal and done beats………….
“Best” and not done.
If we don’t do the “best way” because we don’t like it enough and / or just can’t do it around other commitments………….
It’s not the best way.
It might be the best way for someone looking to get in the Olympics.
It’s not for the 99% of us who just want to get ‘somewhat’ fitter, slimmer, stronger, etc.
Sure, we don’t want it to take any longer than it has to.
I get that.
We get dispirited by slow progress.
The ‘fastest’ approach that we’re ok doing, on average………..
Consistently..
Over time………
Is the ‘best way’ for us.
Much love,
Jon ‘Buy’ Hall
P.S. That middle name was a play on Best Buy. The best thing you could buy right now is our programme. Just over £3 a day for life changing progress. Most that come to us have spent years spending one or two pounds a day and slipping backwards. Whilst spending way more than £3 a day on stuff that doesn’t really benefit them. And we have a money back guarantee. Get involved at www.myrise.co.uk/join!
