Imagine you go into a shop.
Not hard.
There’s tonnes of stuff you fancy the look of.
You check the prices.
Some are shown in dollars.
Some in euros.
Pounds, rupees, pesetas, the Albenian Lek and so on.
Confusing, no?
You can, of course, still make it all work.
Keep on track of your finances.
But it seems unnecessarily complicated.
There’s a lot of potential for overspending without really realising it.
And to make it all worse, you have seven different jobs that all pay in different currencies.
Imagine then you find another shop.
Everything cleared prices in pounds sterling.
You have one job that pays in pounds too.
Much easier 🙂
The analogy, of course, is different eating methods.
Red days, green days, feeding windows, food group removal, meal replacements and more CAN all work.
But they don’t automatically.
And to do them in a way that does, just seems overly complicated.
Like all items in a shop being clearly priced, a high proportion of foods come with a label on that shows their ‘cost’.
For those that don’t, it’s only a quick Google away.
Or search on MyFitnessPal.
One currency.
One number.
A single thing to be kept ‘in budget’.
More we can consider and / or track if we get the hang of that and want to progress, of course.
But the simplest calculation there is the most important one.
We don’t need to track our ‘budget’ of course.
We can keep our spending within our ‘income’ without – if we can happily and consistently do that.
Month after month, year after year.
But, if we’ve struggled with that……….
Know that there is a single measure which we can (when we’ve got the hang of it) track relatively easily…………
That will get us what we want if we keep it ‘within budget’.
Much love,
Jon ‘Shave Club’ Hall and Matt ‘Tree’ Nicholson
P.S. The programme sold out again last night. Details for the next find out more meeting (end of Feb for March programme) is up though at myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you missed out?
