The land lady from the pub nearest my house joined RISE recently.
She’s called Sue, if you hadn’t guessed from the blog title.
The other night I, my wife and our youngest popped in for a drink.
And whilst I was in the toilet, I noticed a quote on the wall that I really like.
“A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it”
True in every area of life, I should imagine.
Including our eating and exercise choices.
When we have ‘problems’ around our eating, we’ll only get so far by constantly trying to ‘solve’ them;
– “There’s limited options at a petrol station shop”
– “I’ve had a lot of social events on”
– “It was all inclusive”
– “I’ve been too busy to eat well”
All of these are trying to solve a problem.
Problems that can just be avoided.
We can plan ahead.
Have food with us.
Check a menu before we go and make a decision when we’re in a relatively sensible mood.
Choose what or where to book to make better decisions easier, not harder.
Organise it so that the easiest food option is a “good” one.
Same with exercise.
If we’re not scheduling and diarising our workout like we do work appointments, then we’re increasing the chance of problems that need to be solved down the line.
The same if we’re attempting to force ourselves to do a form of exercise that we don’t want to do through willpower alone.
Whatever the case, whenever we encounter ‘problems’……..
It’s worth considering how we can avoid them, not just solve them (we’ll help you with that via www.myrise.co.uk/apply) .
Much love,
Jon ‘Old Elf’ Hall
