I’ve mentioned before that I used to be a professional wrestler.
Still do it a bit now and again, but not very often anymore.
I had a match in Sheffield a couple of weeks ago.
And I was chatting to Mikey, one of the lads there.
Mikey, by his own definition, isn’t a natural athlete.
But he’s worked hard over the years to improve to the point where he can be trusted to put on a good match and entertain the fans.
But his effort to improve his body shape, fitness and health haven’t really got anywhere over the years.
Infact, as he puts it, he “can’t stop tapping out to cake”.
For those that don’t know “tapping out” in wrestling and MMA is where you slap the mat (or yourself or opponent) three times to submit.
He, as I do, was using cake as a catch all term for all the unhealthy stuff he eats.
So – cake continues to beat him into submission.
Although phrasing it that way hasn’t worked for Mikey, I thought thinking of it like this might help you.
Do you like the sound of something ‘beating’ you?
Something showing that it’s got your number?
That it’s better than you?
Or does that make you want to show it who’s boss?
Teach it a lesson?
Imagine that cake dancing around the ring.
Taunting you.
Telling you that it’s going to take you down.
“Own you”.
“Make you tap faster than Frank Sinatra on speed”.
Would you put up with that?
Would you let cake push you around?
If not, maybe it’s time you started showing cake who’s the boss.
Maybe it’s your turn to make cake ‘tap out’.
Much love,
Jon ‘TapouT’ Hall and Matt ‘No Fear’ Nicholson
