More Easter weekend blog inspiration 🙂
I made some fairy cakes with my step-daughter.
They were delicious.
And, do you know what the best bit was?
You got it (the blog image probably gave it away)………..
Licking the bowl.
It was awesome.
Out of interest, I checked how much was in there (weighed the bowl before and after I spooned it out).
63g
255 calories
Would I have enjoyed the next 63g as much?
It would’ve been nice, of course.
But not as good as that first bit.
6,300g would’ve made me feel awful.
There’s definitely diminishing returns with a lot of food.
There’s a bit that’s the “best bit”.
And the rest after that not quite as good.
Until, eventually, it’s not remotely enjoyable.
So, imagine we only ever had the best bit.
The first mouthful or ten (dependant on what it is)?
The first sip or glass?
The proverbial ‘licking the lid’.
And we made that work by averaging out the day or week.
Punching into MFP (like I did) and knowing we can make the numbers work.
So we can get nothing but pure enjoyment from it (like I did).
No guilt, no beating ourselves up, no thinking we’ve “failed” or that there’s something to be “written off”.
We have the best bit.
We enjoy it.
And we make the average around it one that works for us.
Much love,
Jon ‘Coin’ Hall
