I sometimes see posts on social media that start with some version of “How to lose weight while……”

Followed by what we might think of as a barrier to doing that.

You know, things like;

– Socialising

– Drinking alcohol

– Going on holiday

– Being busy

– Not having much time

– Having a family to organise

– Being injured and not being able to exercise

And so on.

And, whilst there might be specific considerations in each of those situations, the fundamental method of losing weight despite that challenge is the same.

Be in an average calorie deficit over time.

If we’re in a calorie deficit across the course of, say, a week while doing any of those things, we will lose weight.

So, here are all those answers;

– Lose weight while socialising by being in a calorie deficit

– Lose weight while drinking alcohol by being in a calorie deficit

– Lose weight while going on holiday by being in a calorie deficit

– Lose weight while being busy by being in a calorie deficit

– Lose weight while not having much time by being in a calorie deficit

– Lose weight while having a family to organise by being in a calorie deficit

– Lose weight while being injured and not being able to exercise by being in a calorie deficit

Sure, there’s more thought that needs to go into how to make that happen.

But let’s not get distracted from the fundamentals of what does need to happen.
