I recently did a bit of number crunching.

I looked, amongst other things, at how long the average new member stayed with us for every month since I started the business.

Outside of of lockdowns, I’ve kept the number of overall members where it needs to be for over 120 consecutive months now.

Some months have a few more leavers and, therefore, I increase ad spend to replace them.

But it’s fairly steady in terms of overall numbers.

What did surprise me was the variations in average stay length.

As the month with the longest average stay was the one you might think of as “the worse times to start”.

December.

If I had a pound for every person who, from mid-October onwards told me “It’ll make more sense to leave it till the New Year”……..

I wouldn’t be retiring like, but it would probably cover a mini break for the family.

It seems obvious, doesn’t it?

“No point in starting with Christmas a few weeks away as I won’t be able give it 100%”.

However, I don’t for one second, think that those who start in December don’t have much on over Christmas.

I sincerely doubt they felt they’d be able to give it 100% (who ever can in reality?).

They’d just become ok with knowingly sub-optimal forward progress.

Or even maintenance or damage limitation (gaining 2lbs over Christmas is always way better than gaining 10lbs).

Knowing this is always better than 5 steps back with more to do in the future.

Those that “leave it to January” often find that it actually isn’t any easier then (or marginally so, at best).

Ultimately tomorrow never comes.

We can only ever make decisions today.

Right now (I literally guarantee you that the best decision you can make right now is to click this link and change your life –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply)

And it’s an accumulation of “good enough” decisions now………

Rather than perfect decisions in the future……..

That will get us where we want to go.

Much love,
