Morning rituals are a big thing nowadays.

I see lots of talk about them social media.

We all have one, of course.

Maybe without realising it.

We all have some things we do almost on auto pilot every morning.

We might hit snooze for the maximum number of times we can get away with?

Maybe check our phone for a bit?

Get up, get dressed, do our teeth and have breakfast in pretty much the same order and way we always have?

Get the kids up and sorted and to school perhaps?

Or something along those lines?

So, we already have a morning ritual.

It might be that we could have one that sets us up for success better.

But, from my experience……….

The best morning ritual is…………

The night before.

We wake up feeling shit, then we’re fighting an uphill battle from the start.

We’re probably not going to do any of those extra things that we feel might be helpful (although half the things I see in these “high achiever morning rituals” seem somewhere between ‘completely pointless’ and ‘maybe not the biggest win we could have with that time and effort’).

We wake up feeling somewhere between reasonable and alright?

Chances are the day will go better than that one we woke up feeling shit on?

So…………

What can we do the day before?

Getting more sleep is often a big win.

Easier said than done, sure (as is everything)!

Doesn’t mean it’s not the case though.

Maybe what we put in our mouths over the last few hours before bed?

Makes us feel somewhat better at the time, of course.

But worse the next day.

So we feel the need to do it again that night.

And so on.

Wake up feeling better and have a better day and we might feel less of a need for those forms of sedation?

A little ‘chicken and egg’, we realise.

But, again, probably still true.

Ultimately, an effective morning ritual can be a great thing.

But, from our experience, the best one is………..

The night before.

Much love,
