I’m sure many of you were doing the same thing I was at 9.45pm on Saturday.
Watching the final of the Men’s 100m in the Athletics World Championships in London.
Probably hoping, like we were, that Usain Bolt could win his 20th Gold Medal (in Olympics and World Championships) in his last individual race.
It wasn’t to be, of course.
Real life often doesn’t go the way we would like.
For all of us.
Things get in the way of our plans for a healthier lifestyle.
Work stuff comes up.
Other people’s action serve to flagotage us.
Injuries, illnesses.
Other commitments.
That is life.
The key, as we always say, is to then not ‘write things off’.
If you genuinely can’t make your workout, it can’t be helped.
If the only options for food are a bit crappy, then that’s just the way it is.
If these mini setbacks have no impact on our choices the next time / day, then they’ll make next to no difference.
If they becomes the instigator to ‘fall off the wagon’ for a weekend, week or month………
Then the ‘damage’ will be many times more.
Sometimes we can learn from our setbacks.
Put things in place so they are less likely to happen again……..
Or so we deal with them better when they do.
Sometimes, nothing can be done.
Don’t worry about it.
Don’t let it affect the next decisions.
And you’ll get there.
It might just take a touch longer than you’d have liked.
Much love,
Jon ‘Going to tonight’s Athletics session’ Hall and Matt ‘Linford’ Nicholson
